    Definition

    The indicator is calculated by Statistics Denmark. The number of 20-24 year old women who have been married or have been in a couple before reaching the age of 18 years in proportion to all 20-24 year olds.

    Since 2017, both parties must be at least 18 years old to enter into marriage in Denmark. Before 2017, it was possible to apply for an exemption to marry if one was at least 15 years old. See, for example, the Danish Marriage Act (Ægteskabsloven).

    According to the UN definition, the indicator should also show the number of women aged 20-24 who were married or in a union before the age of 15, expressed as a proportion of all women aged 20-24.
