2 Zero hunger

Target 2.1

By 2030, end hunger and ensure access by all people, in particular the poor and people in vulnerable situations, including infants, to safe, nutritious and sufficient food all year round.

Indicators

2.1.1

2.1.2

Prevalence of moderate or severe food insecurity in the population, based on the Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES)

Definition

Denmark does not produce continuous and official statistics in accordance with the methodology behind the indicator.

The UN website on Sustainable Development Goal data presents FAO-estimated figures for the period 2015–2023 on the share of the population experiencing moderate or severe food insecurity, meaning uncertainty about obtaining sufficient nutritious food. The figures indicate a level of between 6 and 7 percent of the population in Denmark during 2015–2023. The data are disaggregated by gender.

It should also be noted that the Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (SILC) survey measures the share of households that cannot afford a meal with meat, chicken, fish, or a vegetarian equivalent every other day. This share was measured at 4 percent in 2025.
